Given your Mac isn’t new and is filled with data, you will probably need enough free space on your Mac. This includes not just space for the OS itself but also space for other applications and your user data. One more argument is that the free space on your disk translates into virtual memory so your apps have “fuel” to operate on. The chart below tells you how much free space is needed.
Note, that it is recommended that you install OS on a clean drive. Next, you will need enough disk space available, for example, to create Recovery Partition. Here are some ideas to free up space on your drive:

Using rsync in this way is the same as using it with rsh or ssh except that:

* the remote server might print a message of the day when you connect.
* if you specify no path name on the remote server then the list of accessible paths on the server will be shown.
* if you specify no local destination then a listing of the specified files on the remote server is provided.
Some paths on the remote server will require authentication. If so then you will receive a password prompt when you connect.
You can avoid the password prompt by setting the environment variable RSYNC_PASSWORD to the password you want to use or using the --password-file option. This may be useful when scripting rsync.

The patterns can take several forms. The rules are:
* if the pattern starts with a / then it is matched against the start of the filename, otherwise it is matched against the end of the filename. Thus ’/foo’ would match a file called ’foo’ at the base of the tree. On the other hand, ’foo’ would match any file called ’foo’ anywhere in the tree

* if the pattern ends with a / then it will only match a directory, not a file, link or device.

* if the pattern includes a double asterisk ’**’ then all wildcards in the pattern will match slashes, otherwise they will stop at slashes.
* if the pattern contains a / (not counting a trailing /) then it is matched against the full filename, including any leading directory.
If the pattern doesn’t contain a / then it is matched only against the final component of the filename. Again, remember that the algorithm is applied recursively so ’full filename’ can actually be any portion of a path.
* if the pattern starts with ’+ ’ (a plus followed by a space) then it is always considered an include pattern, even if specified as part of an exclude option.
The ’+ ’ part is discarded before matching.

Three basic behaviours are possible when rsync encounters a symbolic link in the source directory.

For a more streamlined approach to this conundrum, download GitHub’s free driver – it’s maintained and updated frequently and is free to all Mac users.
1. Install the driver
After opening the GitHub link, double click on the DMG file visible under ‘Assets’. This will start the installing process, where you will have to follow the appropriate instructions.
Remember though, as with any new program installation, it will reboot your Mac, so don’t panic. After the restart, you should be able to find ‘Xbox 360 Controllers’ in the system preferences.

2. Connect the Xbox 360 Controller to your Mac

This is a control pad, which indicates whether all the buttons on the controller are working properly. That’s about all you can do on this, as well as shutting the controller down by clicking ‘power off’.

4. Configuring for multiple games on your Mac
We all have different tastes in games - some of us like sports and some of us like military, there’s no right or wrong (asides from Half-Life, that’s just awesome and it’s not up for debate).

5. Use Joystick Mapper

Here’s how it works –
Once you download the Joystick Mapper app, you need to create a pre-set for your game preferences. To do this, open the app and click ‘Add new pre-set’.
Enter a name for future reference such as ‘My Game’, and for each joystick, click ‘Add a new joystick’.
Now that you’ve identified the joystick, you need to ‘bind’ joystick inputs to keyboard or mouse movements - which is easier than it sounds.
Click on ‘Add new bind’, and then ‘Scan’, and press the button of your game controller that you’d like to use. Next select a mouse or keyboard action, and that will ‘bind’ the chosen inputs.
Simply repeat this process until you’ve bound all the buttons you’d like to use.
If by chance you’re using a controller other than an Xbox 360 or Xbox One, you can replicate these actions and apply them to different controllers. To do this, simply click the ‘Clone’ icon in the top right corner. To put the pre-set into action, set a checkmark before the preferred pre-set/profile you’ve created for the game you’re about to play. Now, you’re good to go!

So, what IS the real difference between the two, anyway? Well it’s pretty simple really… it mostly comes down to what operating system they run on. PCs generally use Windows (7, XP, Vista, etc.) Operating Systems (as well as Linux, Solaris, etc.) and Macs usually run on Mac OS X (Macintosh Operating System), but now they can run Windows as well. As with most comparisons, they each have respective strengths and weaknesses, but are remarkable none-the-less!

We began the Perian project over 6 years ago. We wanted to simplify viewing your content. Our team has attained that goal and with that in mind, Perian will be retired soon. Our stewardship has been a blast but it’s time for all of us to move on. Quicktime For Mac Download
From the beginning we kept Perian simple. Our preferences were minimal, updating was easy, and we gradually grew the product to add in extras like subtitles and different formats. We’ve contributed a lot. Today, Perian stands as complete as it ever will be under our stewardship.
There are some projects that we never got to. As an example, we would have liked an official, flexible, and well-documented import API to speed up MKV. We hit a brick wall there. Still, we reached a great stopping point and Perian’s installed userbase proves how valuable this tool became to so many people.
Starting 90 days after the final Perian release, we will no longer provide support. We’ll wrap up our loose ends, pack up our bags, and move on to new and exciting projects.
Here’s what our roadmap looks like:
* We will soon release the final version of Perian, including all the fixes we’ve worked on since the last release. It may -- or may not -- work on 10.8.
